I know…Valentine’s Day is over. Anyhow I post here homemade Valentine’s grape pie created by me. I made this grape pie as Valentine’s day  present for my husband. It took a long time for me to make this pie, because of the love-form on top of the pie, I’ve made it with my hand :-). And also, I had to seeded the grape first, before blend it. It would be good idea when you use seedless grape. I also didn’t peel the skin of the grape (it costs also time). Overall,  at the end we’re happy, my husband was happy to eat it, and I was happy that the pie taste really good.

  • Pastry:
  • 300g flour
  • 200g butter, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5 Tablespoons ice water
  • Filling:
  • 400g red grapes, stemmed,seeded
  • 50g sugar
  • 1 tablespoon tapioca flour + 1 tablespoon warm water


  1. Prepare a bowl, mix flour and salt, work butter into flour, stir with fork or your hand until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle in up to 5 tbsp. ice water, knead the dough until smooth, press dough into rough ball, wrap it with plastic wrap. keep in refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
  2. Puree the grapes, cook with medium heat for 2 minutes. Add sugar.
  3. Mix tapioca flour with warm water, add it into grape mixture, stir well, continue cooking for about 8 minutes with low heat until it turns thick.
  4. Preheat oven 190°C.
  5. Grease 20cm pie plate with butter.
  6. Take 1/4 of the dough, make love-form with your hand. Roll the rest of the dough under floured surface, fit it into pie plate.
  7. Transfer grape filling to pastry bottom.
  8. Bake pie for 20 minutes, reduce oven temperature to 180°C°, and continue baking until pastry is golden brown, 20-25 minutes more. Set pie aside to cool completely.
