Tempeh is soy product originally from Indonesia, it is made from soya beans, with fermentation process, binds the soybeans into cake form, it is rich of vitamin and protein. Tempeh green chili soy sauce or know as “tempe cabe ijo” is Indonesian favorite food, which is popular in island of Java. It’s cubed fried tempeh mixed with sliced green chili, shallot, garlic, galangal, salt and thick soy sauce. You’ll find tempeh in Asia store, normally wrapped in plastic. In Indonesia, tempeh are wrapped with banana leaves.
The green chillies that I’ve used here are the big one, it’s green chili pepper, the size is almost similar like jalapeño, don’t misunderstood with bird’s eye chili, it’s very hot!. Serve tempeh green chili soy sauce with warm white rice.
