Rum balls


I remember when I was child, my mom always made this for me. Even though she made it without rum, it tasted so good and that was really my sweet moment. In Germany it called ‘Rumkugeln‘, in Bahasa Indonesia called Bola coklat. There are many recipes of Rum balls. You could make it with any filling you like, like desiccated coconut, ground or chopped almond / cashew nuts etc.

This is my recipe that I’ve always made:

Rum balls


  • 200g Biscuits
  • 80ml Condensed milk (non sweetened)
  • 60g Butter or Margarine
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Rum (Rhum Myers)
  • 1 tablespoon Cocoa powder
  • 100g Chocolate sprinkles


  1. Crush the biscuits, put in a bowl.
  2. Add Condensed milk, Butter, Sugar, Rum, Cocoa powder.
  3. Mix it with spoon, use 2 spoons to make a round form.
  4. Put chocolate sprinkles on a plate.
  5. Coat the balls with chocolate sprinkles using fork.
  6. Put the balls on paper cupcake form.
  7. Put in refrigerator 10-15 minutes.
  8. Ready to serve


Tips: You can also add melted chocolate/chocolate sauce onto the mixture, you can substitute Butter with Margarine and Condensed Milk with Milk.
