Basil is our favorite herb, I always add it into our dishes, like a simple caprese salad that I’m made few days ago. I have basil leaves plant in my balcony, so I just pick it every time I need. I’ve also made basil pesto to add it into pasta dish or salad dressing. This time I made rucola basil pesto, basically it’s the same ingredient with basil pesto, I just added some rucola leaves. Rucola has latin name Eruca sativait also known as arugula or salad rocket, it’s frequently used in salads.

This recipe adapted from Live Love Healthy with Rucola Basil Pesto Raw and Vegan.

Rucola Basil Pesto


  • a handful of rucola salad leaves (100g)
  • a handful of basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup (40g) pine nuts
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup (50ml) water


  1. Mix all ingredients into food processor until smooth.
