Potato Pancake


I called this Potato pancake, in Germany known as Kartoffelpuffer, it is favorite meal in Germany, it serves normally with apfelmuss (apple sauce), but I just ate just like that and actually it should be a thin pancake, but I’ve made it to thick. Anyway it tasted good. By the way my neighbor gave me some potatoes from the garden of her daughter, she harvested it and shared it with me. So happy. She gave the potatoes and also recipe how to make Kartoffelpuffer for me. That’s why I make this post. I’ve tried it and surprised how simple and yummy it was.

Potato Pancake


  • 3 Potatoes (about 400g)
  • 3 Tablespoons Oatmeal
  • 1 Egg
  • Salt and pepper
  • Oil for frying


  1. Peel and wash the potatoes, grate it.
  2. Add oatmeal and egg, season with salt and pepper. Mix together.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, fry two tablespoons of the batter until the color turn into brown. Repeat it until all the batter finish.
  4. Strain and put it in a plate (underlined with kitchen paper).
  5. Ready to serve.
