I’ve made this mushrooms cream cheese puff pastry as appetizer. Normally I used puff pastry as dessert basis. Since I found man creative recipes on internet, I thought I should try interesting recipe. To mix mushrooms with cream cheese, flavor with rosemary or herbs, what a great idea. I have a lot brown Champignon mushrooms at home and I’ve cooked different kind of recipes with mushrooms, last time I’ve posted Sautéed brown Champignon mushrooms with orange bell pepper, it was a simple side dish recipe.

Mushrooms Cream Cheese Puff Pastry


  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry , thawed
  • 200g brown Champignon mushrooms, sliced
  • 100g cream cheese ( 3 tablespoons)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rosemary
  • 3 tablespoons red wine
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 50g gouda cheese, grated
  • salt
  • black pepper


  1. bake 180°C for 20 minutes
  2. Roll out puff pastry to fit a tart pan (round or rectangle).
  3. Preheat your oven to 425°F or 200°C.
  4. For filling: heat olive oil in a pan, sauté chopped onion, minced garlic and sliced mushrooms for about 5-6 minutes. Add chopped rosemary, add red wine until the liquid evaporated, remove from heat and stir in the cream cheese until smooth, season with salt and pepper. Mix in the shredded cheese (reserve some for topping), spoon the filling into puff pastry.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown and the tart filling is also browning. Remove from the oven, slice square. Spread the rest of the grated cheese on top of the sliced puff pastry before serving.
