Hi Food Bloggers… it’s been a long time since I posted my last recipe, it because I have few weeks holiday at Jakarta – Indonesia (back to my hometown). Yes I live in Hannover – Germany since three years ago and every year I always visit my mom, meet my friends and the most important thing is to enjoy the taste of Indonesian Cuisine. I miss the deliciousness of Indonesian food when I’m in Germany. 

My mom had cooked some traditional Indonesian dessert for me, this time I’ll post cassava compote with coconut milk. Special recipe from her. It’s made from boiled cassava served with coconut milk, palm sugar and pandan leaves.

Indonesian cassava compote with coconut milk


  • 1 cassava (200g), peeled
  • 100g palm sugar block
  • 300ml coconut milk
  • 500ml water
  • 5 pieces pandan leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


  1. Slice peeled cassava into 2cm wide.
  2. Boil cassava with 400ml water and 2 pieces pandan leaves in a pot until tender. Check with fork.
  3. Boil palm sugar block with 100ml water, strain, add it into boiled cassava in a pot. Stir.
  4. Prepare sauce pan, boil coconut milk with 3 pieces pandan leaves and salt with low heat until start to bubble (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat.
  5. Serve boiled cassava in a bowl, pour with boiled coconut milk, garnish with pandan leaves.
