German Cucumber Salad

This German Cucumber Salad recipe inspired from Tim Mälzer, he’s famous Chef in Germany. In Germany it called Gurken Salat, it can be served also as side dish for fish dish. It’s serve cold,  very refreshing. Here, there’s special tool to slice the cucumber, the function is to slice the cucumber as thin as possible. If you don’t have, you could slice it also with knife, but don’t forget to peel the skin first, because it taste bitter. After slicing, marinating, seasoning and mixing, it times to enjoy it.

German Cucumber salad


  • 1 cucumber (300g)
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh chopped dill
  • 3 Tablespoons cream
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • a pinch of pepper


  1. Prepare a bowl.
  2. Remove cucumber skin with peeler.
  3. Slice thin the cucumber with knife or cucumber slicer tool.
  4. Add salt, pepper and sugar. Mix it with your hand.
  5. Marinade it for 15 minutes, keep in refrigerator.
  6. Remove water that comes our from the cucumber.
  7. Add chopped dill, cream, chopped onion, vinegar, olive oil. Mix together. Ready to serve
