Blueberry Week —–>Saturday, Day 6 : Blueberry Bagels.

Delicious blueberry bagels for breakfast, I ate this with butter and my husband ate this with cream cheese. He loves bagels so much. It took a lot of time for me to make this 🙂 but very fast to eat it :-). Check out Sesame Bagel recipe that I’ve been made.

This recipe adapted from Heather’s French Press with NY style Blueberry Bagels.

Blueberry Bagels

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (1 tablespoon) dry yeast / 20g fresh yeast
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups of warm water
  • 3 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup of blueberries, coated with 1/4 cup of flour

Instructions:

  1. Dissolve the yeast and sugar in 1/2 cup of warm water, let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix together the salt and the flour.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and the additional water to the flour.
  4. Gently fold in the blueberries.
  5. Knead by hand until the dough becomes elastic.
  6. Place the dough in a bowl coated with oil.
  7. Cover the dough and let rise until doubled, about 1 - 1/2 hours.
  8. Divide the dough into 8 balls.
  9. Press into the center of each ball forming a hole, and stretch to form the bagel shape.
  10. Place the bagels onto baking sheet underlined with parchment paper. Let rest 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat oven 425 °F/220°C.
  12. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  13. Boil the bagels - 2-3 pieces at a time for 3 minutes both side until float to the top.
  14. Place on the same baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
