Beef Kale Fried Wontons

beef kale wontons

This beef kale fried wontons perfect to serve as appetizer or as finger food for party, I made this fried wontons because I want to experiment what the taste of the filling would be like if I combine ground beef with kale. Surprisingly it was so good, normally I used ground beef with mushrooms, this time a little different. I served this with sweet sour chili sauce, just ignore the color, it burnt a little bit :-), be careful when you deep frying it, .

Beef Kale Fried Wontons

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 stalk green onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 cups finely chopped kale leaf
  • ---------------------------------------
  • For egg wash:
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • ----------------------------------------
  • wonton wrappers, thawed
  • vegetable oil for frying

  1. Heat a pan, add some oil, sauté the ground beef meat with ginger, garlic, green onions, soy sauce, oyster sauce and kale. Cook for few minutes until well combine.
  2. Whisk the egg and water for egg wash.
  3. Place a wonton wrapper flat in the palm of your hand, add 1 teaspoon of mixture to the center of the wrapper. Paint all 4 edges with the egg wash with your finger. Fold the wonton in half, corner to opposite corner to make a triangle. Seal tightly all around. Make sure there are no air pockets or holes in the wonton. Fold the longer two triangle points together and seal to make the wonton shape.
  4. In a pot or wok, add 2-3cm of oil, heat the oil. Add a few wontons to the oil to fry, turning occasionally until they are golden brown, strain and drain the oil with kitchen paper.
